To obtain a Delaware car title, you will need to complete Form MV-212 and have the following information available: the existing title, a Bill of Sale, proof of valid Delaware insurance, and a Delaware photo ID or two proofs of residency.
You will need to apply for a duplicate or replacement title if you lose yours. Without it, you will not be able to sell, gift, or transfer the vehicle to someone else. You need to complete the Form MV-213 as part of this process. You can do this on your own, or you can work with CarTitles.com to take this task off of your plate. Delaware requires that you fill out the Application for Duplicate Title (MV-213), either in person or via mail. There is also a $50 fee for a replacement title. Your new title will arrive via mail in approximately 4 weeks once the DMV processes your application.
To complete a deceased owner car title transfer, you will need to visit your local DMV in person. You will need the vehicle title, a copy of the death certificate, and Letters of Testamentary or Administration.
You will need to complete the Application for Duplicate Title (MV-213) to replace a damaged vehicle title. When you submit the completed form, you will also need to turn in the damaged version of the title. Delaware charges a $50 fee to replace a damaged title.
