To obtain a Connecticut car title, you will need to complete Form H-13B and have the following information ready: proof of ownership and valid insurance, a photo ID, a current vehicle inspection, and an odometer reading. Connecticut requires that you fill out the H-6B Application for Replacement Certificate of Title, which you can return via mail or in person at your local DMV. There is also a $25 fee for a replacement title. Your new title will arrive via mail in approximately 15 business days once your application is processed.
To transfer ownership from a deceased person, take the death certificate and the required H-13 form to your local DMV office, along with the vehicle’s title. If there is a will in place, the executor will need to sign the title. If there is no will, but probate is not needed, you will need a Survivorship Affidavit.
